We asked some of your favourite fitness stars what they think of bikini season and what makes a killer beach body.

“For me, bikini season means not only enjoying the beautiful weather, but [revealing] a little more skin than usual to show how hard I worked to maintain a healthy lifestyle all year round. It's important to look great on the beach because everyone is in a tiny bikini and it truly is the next best thing to being naked.”

What does bikini season mean to you?: “Back in the early and mid ‘90s, it used to mean bikini contests and making some extra funds! Now, it means enjoying the sun and not feeling self-conscious about how I look in my two-piece, as well as getting a great tan and shopping for a new, fun, flattering bikini!”

“I believe that someone could have the hottest body on the beach, but not feel that hot on the inside. So to be a hot beach babe you must have inner beauty that transcends your outer beauty and to achieve that you must have balance.”

MARGARET DIUBALDO “A killer beach body is one that is not only toned but has shape and proportion. I prefer beach bodies that have round shoulders, a small waist with visible abs, and a strong, tight set of legs. A complete and consistent training program and a good eating plan will do the trick.”

“A sleek, toned physique that looks like it’s taken care of is super sexy! Skin that’s well hydrated and exfoliated regularly has a certain sheen to it that accentuates even the most minimal tan. I always make sure to give my skin regular body scrubs and drink plenty of water.”

“The body speaks for itself. It is a direct reflection of what you are eating and how you are training! A great beach body means symmetry and what I call ‘cartooning’ or ‘animating’ the physique: building a tiny waist, a nice V-taper and a rocking backside!”

KIM DOLAN “The beach is all about relaxing. It’s hard to relax when you don't feel your best. So getting rid of excess water weight combined with a healthy tan shows off lean definition. Bikini season is a great chance to show off all my hard work.”
