When it comes to eating clean you really must tread your own clean eating path and stick to it regardless of where you are! Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had to fly interstate - and it never fails to amaze me how difficult it is to eat clean - unless of course you’re prepared and BYO.

I don't know about you but I always prefer to do my cardio...which normally consists of a powerwalk in the open outdoors. I can never understand why you would want to walk on a treadmill in a steamy room with other people when the whole outdoors is waiting for you.

Try to think of the food you put into your body as nourishment as opposed to eating for taste alone. Clean nutritious food can and does taste delicious and is quick and easy to prepare.

I was training in the gym when I a youngish fellow gym goer started talking to me. “My knee is playing up again” he said. He was upset and in considerable pain as he explained “It happens when I gain weight...I’m just get too heavy for my knees to handle and my doctor says it’s because of the excess weight gain”.

Last week I was being interviewed on the phone for a newspaper which was exciting. We were talking about how to make the most of the time you have to exercise. The journalist made her own suggestion on the subject “so you think people should go out and buy a dog so they can take it for a run?’ “No”, I said, “I think they should buy a set of dumbbells!” (not that I’ve got anything against dogs).

I was speaking to one of my new personal training clients the other day who said quite convincingly how she can’t control her ‘food binges’ because of hormones. “I just crave chocolate and anything sweet” was how she described it. “For about two weeks leading up to my period I feel I really need it and can’t stop binging”.

When I wake early and I’m getting ready for my day I often flick on the television. I can hear the news bulletin in the background as it tells of the doom and gloom of what’s happening in the world. I understand that we need to know the facts but I’m sure if we received a more positive message (or at least some balance) to start the day for many it would make a difference. Who is with me to start a ‘good news channel’?
