Carb Confusion

Carbs really do get a bad rap…and in some instances their just desserts. However it astounds me how most people in general really have no idea what these mysterious carb things really are.

When plane food isn't so plain

When it comes to eating clean you really must tread your own clean eating path and stick to it regardless of where you are! Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had to fly interstate - and it never fails to amaze me how difficult it is to eat clean - unless of course you’re prepared and BYO.

Treadmill or outdoor power walk?

I don't know about you but I always prefer to do my cardio...which normally consists of a powerwalk in the open outdoors. I can never understand why you would want to walk on a treadmill in a steamy room with other people when the whole outdoors is waiting for you.

The weight of it all

Last week I was being interviewed on the phone for a newspaper which was exciting. We were talking about how to make the most of the time you have to exercise. The journalist made her own suggestion on the subject “so you think people should go out and buy a dog so they can take it for a run?’ “No”, I said, “I think they should buy a set of dumbbells!” (not that I’ve got anything against dogs).

Hormones or tastebuds?

I was speaking to one of my new personal training clients the other day who said quite convincingly how she can’t control her ‘food binges’ because of hormones. “I just crave chocolate and anything sweet” was how she described it. “For about two weeks leading up to my period I feel I really need it and can’t stop binging”.
